What IS a Belief Anyway? 

How often have you walked away from a disagreement thinking “Just believe whatever you want, I’m done!” and wondering how anyone could be so stubbornly wrong?  The truth is that beliefs have nothing to do with facts.  So you were right.  People believe what they want.  And often believe what they don’t want as well.  We all do it.  We ALL have beliefs that are demonstrably untrue.  Or at the very least, legitimately open to question.  

A belief, as it turns out, is nothing more than a well-practiced thought. Whether or not that belief is objectively “true” is irrelevant.  Once a thought has attained the status of “belief”, all other conflicting thoughts will be measured against that belief and rejected.  Any thought that does not match the underlying belief is incongruent with our sense of SELF and must be rejected in order to preserve ego integrity.  

This is why affirmations alone rarely work. There’s already a stable belief in place, or you probably wouldn’t need the affirmations to begin with.  

The good news is that there are EASIER ways to disarm and eradicate any belief that is holding you back from achieving your FULL POTENTIAL.  When you you know HOW the brain records and stores data, reprogramming is a relatively simple matter.  Leveraging the power of the system that is already in place is a LOT more efficient and practical than spending years trying to figure out *why* you developed that belief.  WHY you developed that belief doesn’t really matter.  HOW you maintain it is what counts.  Because that’s where the gateway to change lies.
